In one episode of the popular TV show House, a patient almost died because he was was given the wrong dose of medicine. This complicated his condition. The error was later identified as Wilson’s disease. Dr. House and his staff learned that the poor patient was getting excessive amount of copper in his regular diet. But wait! What does an almost-dead patient’s diet have to do with bursitis treatment? It’s simple: when it comes to bursitis treatment, accurate diagnosis must first be established before you take on any form of treatment. After all, you could be suffering from something else. What if what you have is not bursitis but arthritis?
The second lesson to be learned in that episode of house is DIET – specifically, the importance of proper diet. It is a known fact that one of the top causes of bursitis is acidic food – and the typical American diet has that a’plenty! How do you know you have bursitis? First off, you will feel pain around the joint areas. Your motion will be limited and your joints could swell. If you have all these symptoms, though, there is no need to push the panic button just yet. Mild forms of bursitis only require a few days of rest and stretching. In extreme cases, the pain could get so severe people take medication to dull the ache.
